Anyone can use this app! However, we do not recommend following this app without medical knowledge AND training, including but not limited to hospital regulations, governing boards, licensing boards, or other oversight regulators.

This app does not supplement or replace any medical instruction, nor does it give providers patient-specific recommendations. This app is specifically intended to be used by anesthesia providers, and will likely make sense only to those who routinely provide fluid resuscitation in an OR setting.

What qualifications does Kaia Cares have to create these apps?

Fluid calculator development was led by a computational biology specialist with professional training in data analysis, software engineering, and evidence validation, and supported by a chief medical advisor who is a licensed physician and anesthesia provider practicing in North Carolina.

The medical advisor applies evidence-based anesthesia guidelines, performs rigorous clinical testing across edge and extreme physiologic scenarios, and independently cross-checks reference inputs and outputs to verify safety, accuracy, and reliability. Clinical recommendations within the app are grounded in established anesthesia science and reviewed by medical professionals in active practice.
